Exploring a Double Rahao Shabad in Raag Prabhati
This project focuses on the shabad "ਇਤੁ ਸੰਜਿਮ ਪ*ਭੁ ਿਕਨ ਹੀ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਮੁਦ*ਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਿਹਆ ਮਾਇਆ ॥" revealed by Dhan Guru Arjan Dev Ji in Raag Prabhati and begins on ang 1347 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The shabad criticizes superficial rituals and puts stress upon inner transformation for purity at the spiritual level. Guru Ji emphasizes the irrational search of the Divine through outward perfumed practices and presents to the forefront the indispensability of true devotion and the right understanding of divine hukam. The resolution comes through Guru's grace, whereby the realization of spiritual joy and liberation is attained. The first asthaee and all antraas of this shabad are composed in Jaitaal (13 beats), while the second rahao in Soolfaak taal (10 beats). The shabad is about inner purity and true devotion and begins by pointing out that anger and ego exist in the mind. Hollow rituals that merely present an outward semblance of purity to the observer are also denounced. The first rahao reinforces that such actions lead one away from the Divine: ਇਤੁ ਸੰਜਿਮ ਪ*ਭੁ ਿਕਨ ਹੀ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥ The shabad exposes the way of knowing the command, or Hukam, of Waheguru for spiritual blossoming. Guru Arjan Dev Ji stresses the ways of devotion and grace from the Guru towards spiritual enlightenment. The second rahao summarizes the shabad, with the attainment of Divine union and deliverance for self and family: ਜੇ ਹੋਵੈ ਭਾਗੁ ਤਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
