About Nehmat Kaur Bajaj
Nehmat Bajaj is a Pre-Law and Business student at UNC Wilmington with a strong passion for Gurmat Sangeet. She is currently training in classical raag-based kirtan under the guidance of Dr. Gagandeep Singh Ji, and is dedicated to deepening her understanding of the musical dimension of Gurbani. Nehmat also shares her knowledge by teaching younger children at her local gurdwara. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar and spending time outdoors, finding balance between her academic, musical, and personal growth.
About my project
Raag Compass: Detailed Chart Of The 31 Shudh Raags
This project is a comprehensive exploration of the 31 Shudh Raags found in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. It aims to document and present key information such as the time of performance, associated emotions, seasonal associations, thaat, aaroh & avroh, ang and unique significance of each Raag within Gurmat Sangeet. The purpose is to deepen understanding of how Raag enhances the spiritual message and mood of Gurbani.
